The First Melon Music Awards 2009 was launched tonight, it was decent as it was their first awards. SNSD dominated with 6 awards with the biggest award, “2009 Song”

What is SNSD and what does it stand for? SNSD is a girl pop group that debuted in Korea 2007 with 9 members Taeyeon(leader), Jessica, Yoona, Yuri, SeoHyun, HyoYeon, Sunny, Tiffany and SooYoung. SNSD stands for So Nyuh Shi Dae or Girls’ Generation. Their first album, “Girls’ Generation” sold around 121,143 to date (according to Wikipedia) which also ended up 8th place in the year-end charts, which is pretty impressive for a group that just debuted.

Later on in first half of 2009, their first mini-album “Gee”, the single “Gee” was on the M.net chart no.1 for eight consecutive weeks, and also on KBS music bank for nine consecutive weeks. After a short break, SM Entertainment which is their… firm? Announced their second EP, “Genie”, which also got awards from KBS music bank etc. They also recently received two awards at the Golden Disks Awards 2009 held in Korea, for the Digital Daesang Award and the Digital Bonsang Award.

Girls’ Generation’s success must be backed up by a huge fan-base, much thanks to soshified, they have brought more than 55,000 members to their forums, the active fan-base has contributed a lot, they’ve had projects to buy presents for each members’ birthday and congratulate them on winning awards, which motivates them to do better.

Well yeah… sports day was pretty good I guess, the year 11s and above races we’re very -beast- people we’re super fast runners. But the best thing of the day wasn’t sports day – we went to TST afterwards, to eat and most importantly go to the lan cafe & arcade I also picked up a new pair of Sennheiser earphones because my old cheap AKGs broke. We ate Korean food that day and I picked up the copy of Genie I said I was going to get! I’m so happy and really looking forward to the next album from SNSD.

On saturday I had popping lesson with Louis at Infinity Dance Studio @ TST from 3PM~4:30PM then we went over to the lan cafe near the TST pier, we gamed for awhile and went to the arcade for like 30 minutes, we had hotpot + ice cold beer (:O underage!). Got all red and high-ish and went home after showered and whatnot, then watched paranormal activity with my family, and to be honest it wasn’t scary at all, it did had some suspense but wasn’t scary, it was a low budget movie after all.

And today… basically slept all day and just chilled on the computer & watched SNSD (mostly Jessica cuts <3)

Had a full day of lessons today.. and I had English for last lesson – I was falling asleep like sh*t, and then I had guitar lessons which is frikin boring too ;(
Then I went to buy SNSD albums! Too bad they only had Gee in stock, need to find Genie somewhere soon, probably tomorrow after sports day (yes! no school). Listening to SNSD’s Gee album at the moment and I am truly addicted.

I decided to dedicate some time for myself to write a bidaily blog, just as a journal so later on, I can look back and see what i’ve done and wrote.

I have sports day tomorrow, got on high jump reserve thanks to Calvin, I get to skip the day, but then I might have to jump because apparently he got hurt from basketball.

Christmas is almost here! And so is my birthday on the 17th, I can’t explain how excited I am to have a break from school and have fun during the Christmas holidays, but then I would be working on my English IOPs anyways :O

Also, before my friends we’re really hyped up about SNSD and Korean k-pop groups, and I thought they we’re just really -bleh-. I finally took the time to watch SNSD videos yesterday – damn, I wish I dug deep earlier to discover these beautiful girls and their voices ;D especially Sica.
